When an Englishwoman dies, leaving behind two children, her devoted friend (Ann Richards) decides to take the children to find the woman's husband (Franchot Tone), an American serviceman who had returned to the USA.
But the father, now a successful architect, claims not to remember ever having gotten married or having any children.

A light and fast moving comedy
I really enjoyed this 1947 Screwball comedy. Excellent cast, especially Franchot Tone. Still entertaining and funny.

No case of amnesia was ever as memorable
Johnny Gray is a good guy with a bad problem. While preparing to marry into a well respected family, he receives some 'blessed news.' He is a father. Inasmuch as the mother is the previously undisclosed spouse of our hero, his plans begin to unravel in the funniest way.
5 stars for this most entertaining play.

Fond memories
Remember this as a kid when they still showed on public - not cable - tv. Franchot Tone is a gem. Great tender comedy.

Gem
A real gem, entertainment value, easy five stars, on first vewing, all there, actors, plot, script, top rate. A little sentimental but this is the 40's. Watch it again with a loved one. Hard for me to find something I'd watch again, but with the right company, it would be on the top list of playing again, share a drink and some popcorn with a close other. Light romantic fluff done by the best. Download and enjoy!
